Dancing

Learn the Viennese Waltz

Marx Library Garden (behind the New Albany Library)

Friday, June 17, 6:30 – 7:00 pm

The oldest of all the modern ballroom dances, the Viennese Waltz is a fast moving dance expressed most beautifully when a large group of dancers is on the floor at the same time. Danced in fast 6/8 time, its main characteristic is continuous rotation to left and right throughout the dance.

Come enjoy a short performance of the waltz followed by a 20 minute dance lesson. This event is free to the public but does require registration. Please wear comfortable clothing and a flat shoe like a sneaker as we will be dancing on brick and/or grass.

About your instructor: Jonathan Hill started dancing at the age of 10 when the BalletMet Columbus outreach scholarship program came to his school. This led Jonathan to love dancing and travel the world, landing him in Germany at a company called Dance Studio 1. Jonathan loves to share his knowledge of ballroom dance with dancers from beginner to advanced and has created several ballroom pieces for New Vision Dance Company to perform as part of their repertory.
